Just today I saw 5 people in our current church from our former church. These are new this Sunday. One man was a die hard “not going to leave” and his wife was pushing hard to leave. Letting go of two pastors, especially since they are viewed as solid, really put it over. I wonder how many more have jumped ship? Where we live there are hundreds of church options close enough to drive comfortably, so I can imagine if there were 5 in our church there could be many who have left. It will be interesting to see what happens in our former missional/spiritual formation/emergent youth focused/ purpose driven church.

I love your blog and I totally agree with what is happening with Dan Southerlands Church. I have been at that church for 15 years and I am questioning alot of what is going on and I was told ” If you can’t handle change you might be better somewhere else”. I have seen alot of change in 15 years and trust me I can handle it. It’s when the change is moving the church into an unholy and ungodly path that I have an issue with. Keep telling the story.
Pam,
I am sorry you are having similar struggles. Our strategy has been to get away from any church associated with our former church. Initially, we visited a church linked, but my fears kept being confirmed in things one of the pastors was saying. People in church have said not to get stuck up on terminology, but this false teaching has a language and I have found that these different terms show up when a church is playing with false teaching. It’s very odd.
I would suggest, if you are wanting freedom and peace to leave it all if you can. I could suggest churches, but I would have to contact you. I have your email address…because WordPress gives it to me when you post on my blog….
