Oh, and Fishdude,

Knowing that there are leaders in emotional turmoil and pain still there really hurts my heart. Really, what's a leader to do in a church they feel is teaching incorrectly.

Fishdude,

I really am sad about my former church AND have friends still there...some who feel stuck. We have friends we visit regularly and who still attend there.

I also am still processing what exactly happened. I do this with many things in my life. I've done it with miscarriage, I've done it with my births, I've done it with the death of my grandfather, I will do it with the break from my former church. I love those people and love that place. It can take a long time to heal.

I am always checking my attitude about my former church, trust me...your question has not been one I haven't considered. Yet I wonder the motive for you asking me such a question.

A significant chunk of your blog posts are focused on the issues of a church that you no longer attend. It seems you haven't cut ties with this church, which means that you still have some kind of attachment to it, and perhaps more than one. Is there some bitterness you're harboring?

If a person has not recognized the glory of God that has been revealed in the person and work of Christ, then he does not even belong to Christ. This book is written for those who believe, the bondservants, not for those who do not believe. So yes everything that was, is and will be is for the glory of God, but this book is written for our instruction, those who would live in a very unique time in the history of the world.

Now, again, remember I said, "main purpose." I believe people get so focused on the prophesy (or truth telling) and they don't think about the glory of Christ which is the point.

It's the plans of God for what He already owns...the world. But this is all to give God the glory, to reveal the Son.

The revelation OF JESUS CHRIST says it all really. I'm not saying the future of the church is not in this book, but the main purpose is for the glory of Christ.

Also notice that it was a revelation from the Father to Jesus Christ to show His bondservants. Not the revealing of who Christ is, though this will happen when every knee will bow before the Name of Jesus Christ.

Revelation Chapter 1
1The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

You might want to re-read the introduction to Revelation before you conclude that it is not meant to reveal the future. It was written to show His servants what must soon take place. Also that we might take to heart what is written. Hmmm, I think that means that if Christ is coming soon that we should be reading this book in Faith believing that Revelation has important words for us if we are that generation. I don't claim to understand Revelation, but I know when the time is right, God will open the minds of those who are diligently reading His Word and grant them understanding.
